An unacceptable amount of people are falsely imprisoned every year--and Bryan Stevenson is the one working effortlessly to get them released. In this young adult adaptation, Bryan brings to light the racism in court through his clients' stories, whether it's a black man who was accused by bribed witnesses, or a young boy tried as an adult. Bryan's relentless fight for justice makes you think about how unjust the justice system can really be.

Hope certainly lives up to her name; when she moves with her aunt to a small town in Wisconsin, she turns being a waitress in a diner into a chance to make real connections with the regulars. She meets a boy, helps campaign against a power-hungry mayor, and tries to find what 'home' truly means. Joan Bauer was one of my favorite authors, and this book doesn't disappoint.

Laura knows she saw something; the accused man swears she was mistaken. The victim, Beth, thanks Laura for her help, but soon Laura's husband, Kit, advises Laura to be cautious: is this 'victim' tying to do more than thank her? As violent incidents begin to occur, Laura can't help but notice that it all leads back to Beth. This mystery was filled with twists and turns on every page, and the ending shocked me more than anything.

After seeing Lisa Scottoline's books everywhere, I decided to pick one up, and am glad that I did! This mystery poses the question "What would you do if calling the police could be the end of your son's future?" Every time I thought I saw the ending, I was wrong. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a good mystery that you certainly won't be able to guess the ending.
