As someone who has trouble pacing my writing, this book is a lifesaver. The guidelines Brody lays out are great for building a plot and maintaining tension throughout a story. And although its recommended beat sheet is detailed, Save the Cat! manages to bring the unique aspects of a writer's style to the forefront of their work.
One of the most entertaining nonfiction books I've ever read. I love the way Southon interacts with the sources she cites, especially the ones who recount Julius Caesar's assassination. Her commentary on their personal biases never fails to make me laugh and helps to remind me that these writers were people, imperfections and all.
Sheep in a Jeep is my go to baby-shower recommendation. It's a charming book and is less likely to be a duplicate gift than the more well known classics.
