This is a delightful, empathetically told duel memoir/advice book by “My Favorite Murder” podcast hosts Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark. Hilarious and teachable moments from their formative years in California are paired with discussions of true crime as they reflect on personal and societal issues and the importance of advocating for yourself.

I loved this foggy and atmospheric post-Arthurian tale. Axl and Beatrice are our main characters, an elderly couple that decides to venture through the English countryside in search of a son they believe they had years back and are now suddenly remembering. The novel has many elements of Athurian fantasy, but the true heart of this story is memory and how it holds our trauma and shapes our guilt.

This cult classic follows the Binewskis, a traveling carnival family who--in a last ditch effort to save the family business--have used drugs, radiation, and other questionable means to create a clan of physically extraordinary children. Warning: Geek Love is not for the faint of heart and has disturbing, grotesque, and taboo subject matter. Within this, however, is a fascinating examination of family and the concept of “normalcy.”
