Heart Rending, Heart Mending book cover
On the December midnight when she discovered that she actually could not breathe, Marylou Kelly Streznewski finally had a good reason to head for the Doylestown Hospital ER after eighteen months of doctors trying to figure out what was wrong with her. Seven hours of open heart surgery later, she was I possession of a replaced mitral valve, a repaired tricuspid valve and a triple bypass. But even that did not make her an advocate for educating women about heart disease. It was reading a Newsletter from the Friends of the Heart Institute that explained how women’s symptoms are different, and listed the very problems she had been having! Post-surgery, she spent many months teaching herself to heal using Integrative Medicine, and became determined that other women should know what she learned.  Poet and writer, the result is a memoir titled Heart Rending-Heart Mending which details her road to healing in both poetry and prose.
