Educator's Night


It's Educator's Night!

Open exclusively to educators (teachers, librarians, and administrators), this evening is your chance to hear from publishers about wonderful new books for your students, chat with fellow educators over refreshments, and sign up for The Doylestown Bookshop's author events program, email newsletters and our educator's discount program.

Publisher sales reps from Penguin, Scholastic, and Barron's will briefly present the best new books for elementary, middle, and high school students. Handouts will be provided, and all books will be available for sale.

Meet Glenda Childs, the owner of The Doylestown Bookshop who will be on hand to discuss special services and partnership opportunities for schools and organizations. Our Children's Book Buyer, Hannah Smith, will be discussing what books she's excited about that are to be released in the Fall and Winter months. Marketing & Events Manager Krisy Paredes will discuss book fairs, author visits, and more!

It's a great opportunity to enjoy the company of our book-loving community and experience professional development at the same time. Everyone in attendance will be entered into our drawings for free books and swag for your classrooms.

Jennifer Hansen Rolli ran her own design firm for many years before returning to her first love: oil painting. She lives in Bucks County, Pennsylvania with her family. She (usually) gets a kick out of her own children pushing for “just one more” until the occasional crash! boom! bang! and the realization that she has let them express a little too much independence! Just One More is her first book for children. Lauren Magaziner grew up in New Hope, Pennsylvania, where she spent her childhood with her nose in a book and her fingers curled over a keyboard. Lauren studied Creative Writing and Philosophy at Hamilton College. She wrote her debut novel, The Only Thing Worse Than Witches, while studying abroad in Edinburgh, Scotland her Junior year. After college, Lauren worked on two delightful Scholastic magazines: writng for the issues and creating online teaching resources. Janice Gable Bashman is the Bram Stoker nominated author of Predator (Month9Books 2014) and Wanted Undead or Alive (with New York Times bestseller Jonathan Maberry) (Citadel Press 2010). She is editor of The Big Thrill (International Thriller Writers’ magazine).  Her short fiction has been published in various anthologies and magazines. Janice has written for Novel & Short Story Writer's Market, The Writer, Writer's Digest, Wild River Review, and many other publications. She is a speaker and workshop leader at writers conferences, including ThrillerFest, Backspace, Pennwriters, The Write Stuff, Stoker weekend, and others. She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, Mystery Writers of America, Horror Writers Association, and the International Thriller Writers, where she serves on the board of directors as Vice President, Technology. When buying online, simply use the checkout comments field to indicate that you would like us to request the author's signature at our event before shipping it to you.

We host our virtual author events on CrowdCast. The majority of our events are free to view unless otherwise noted and archived on our YouTube channel. Virtual events are easy to attend! Viewers do not have to worry about being on camera or having access to a microphone and have the ability to chat with the authors through live chat and ask questions through CrowdCast during the event by typing them into the Q&A field. At some of our well-attended or off-site ticketed events, you can expect to stand in line for upwards of two hours and sometimes longer. If you have an issue that prevents you from standing in line for that length of time, please contact us immediately so that we can better accommodate you at the event.
