You, Even Better: How to Recharge, Reimagine, and Reinvent

Are you feeling an itch these days to try something brand new? Maybe your career has stalled and you’re hoping a change will help get your mojo back. Or you’ve had an “aha” moment, realizing that there’s something else you were meant to do in this world and you need to start while there’s still plenty of time. Or the need for change may have been foisted on you--because of turbulence in your field or your overall life.

Kate White knows all about reinvention. Despite a long and successful career in the magazine business, she made a decision six years ago to call it quits and become a full-time suspense novelist--or as Kate puts it, “How I went to bed the editor-in-chief of Cosmo and woke up researching serial killers.” She is the New York Times bestselling author of 13 mysteries and psychological thrillers. A major motivator for Kate’s reinvention was the desire to have full control over her schedule, allowing for more travel and the chance to live in South America part of each year.

In this talk, Kate offers straightforward, actionable strategies that will enable you to:

  • Figure out what that itch is really telling you (it’s not always what you think!)
  • Learn and adopt a 3-step process for deciding what your next act should be
  • Avoid the most common mistake women make when they begin to reinvent
  • Kick your plan into action despite roadblocks (some of which you may be inadvertently creating yourself

About Such a Perfect Wife

In this next installment of New York Times bestselling author Kate White’s Bailey Weggins series, true crime writer Bailey is reporting on a seemingly straightforward missing-wife story when she realizes she might be covering the work of a diabolical serial killer—and that her own life could be in peril.

Must be blonde, beautiful, and a good Catholic girl…

On a sunny fall morning, Shannon Blaine sets off on a jog along the rural roads near her home in Lake George, New York. It’s her usual routine after dropping the kids off at school…except on this day she never returns. The residents in the idyllic town are stunned. Could Shannon have just taken off, overwhelmed with the pressures of being the perfect wife and mother? Did a stranger snatch her? Or is her husband responsible?

About the Author

Kate White is the New York Times bestselling author of thirteen novels of suspense: seven Bailey Weggins mysteries and five psychological thrillers, including The Secrets You Keep. Her next suspense novel, Such a Perfect Wife, will be published on May 7, 2019.

For fourteen years she served as the editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan magazine, and though she loved the job (and the Cosmo beauty closet!), she decided to leave in late 2012 to concentrate full time on being an author and speaker.

Kate is also the editor of the acclaimed Mystery Writers of America Cookbook, a collection of recipes from the field’s top-selling authors.

Like many female mystery writers, Kate fell in love with the genre after reading her first Nancy Drew book, The Secret of Redgate Farm, and she’s still inspired by the cliffhanger chapter endings the series is known for.

In addition to writing mysteries and thrillers, Kate is the author of several best-selling career books, including most recently, The Gutsy Girl Handbook: Your Manifesto for Success.
