Kathrin Wirth-Torrente is a German photographer and President of AG Photography, Inc.  She and her husband, John and daughter, Louisette reside in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.  On May 4th, 2013 her brother, First Sergeant Daniel Wirth, a member of German Special Forces – KSK was killed by enemy sniper fi re while on assignment during operation “Maiwand” (“May Wall”) as part of NATO-ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) command near Bagram, Afghanistan.
In November 2013, Kathrin, her parents, and sister went on a life-changing trip to Uzbekistan and Afghanistan to better understand her brother’s work in conflict zones. Together with members of Daniel’s KSK unit, Kathrin re-lived her brother’s final days and hours. As the exact circumstances of his final moments are still under investigation, it was of the utmost importance to the family to visit the place where he worked and died.
Being part of a military family and experiencing the loss of her brother eventually brought Kathrin to the Travis Manion Foundation. Here, she found a community of military families suffering the tragic loss of a family member similar to her own family’s.  To honor her brother, his life and work forever, Kathrin together with the Travis Manion Foundation wrote and produced “Brothers in Bravery” – A Tribute to Service Members Who Have Given Their Lives Fighting in the Greater Middle East.
