Staff Reviews
A classic sci-fi epic, Dune is the grand story of Paul Atreides, heir to his father the Duke and taught the mysterious ways of the Bene Gesserit from his mother. Between the complicated political tensions that unfold as the family moves to the dessert planet of Arrakis, the challenges of the harsh landscape and the many secrets of the people who live there, this book soon englufed me in its story. The description on the back of the book doesn't say much about the story, but the more I read the more I realized you can't quite put it into so few words, I definitey recommend this book for fans of sci-fi.

Here, in a beautiful new hardcover edition, is the novel that to this day continues to shape modern science fiction. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, a world more awesome than any other in literature, Dune begins the story of the man known as Maud'dib -- and of a great family's plan to bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.
A stunning blend of adventure, mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction. Frank Herbert's death in 1986 was a tragic loss, yet the astounding legacy of his visionary fiction will live forever.
