"Panic began as so many things do in Carp, a dead-end town of twelve
thousand people in the middle of nowhere: because it was summer, and
there was nothing else to do."
This was a really excellent, really tense read that was almost as surreal as it was realistic. It is about a bunch of regular kids in a podunk town, dealing with the end of high school, dreaming of better things, and risking their lives in order to attain it.
