Although few people have seen the movie based on the novel which I must say was horrendous, the book was superb. Vonnegut's use of satire is hilarious as he pokes fun at the many institutions us normal folk as he says love.

As an ESPN viewer since the late 1990's, I absolutely loved this book. It's format and gossip quality makes for a very quick and easy read . It is a real eye-opener to someone that has grown up on ESPN and has noticed the recent surge in sports programming and how it can all be traced back to the creation of ESPN. An excellent book

Erik Larson has not just struck thunder here, he has struck gold. This is a beautifully written piece of historical literature. Essentially it's two stories in one.

Griffin tells in great detail the events of the NBA betting scandal , one of the darker moments in recent sports history. At times the content is dry but overall an enjoyable read.

The only down side of this book was that it was short. Beah's description of his upbringing in which he went from being a normal child to being a child solider to eventually speaking in front of the United Nations is incredible.

The basketball version of "Friday Night Lights" . An instant classic and must read, hopefully though it is not made into a terrible tv series.
