Jerry & Eileen Spinelli

We're excited to be hosting Jerry and Eileen Spinelli -- two of the most celebrated childrens' authors of all time -- right here at our store!

Together they will be signing copies of their latest book Today I Will, an uplifting book full of daily quotes, advice, and guidance for children ages 9-12.  This beautiful signed hardback would be a great gift for a special child in your life.

Eileen will also be signing copies of her latest picture book for kids, Princess Pig, the cute and memorable story about a pig who learns that it's nice to be a princess but better to be a pig, after all.

Note:  The Spinellis will be happy to sign copies of any of their books you bring from home and new copies of their backlist books will be available at the front register, but purchase of a copy of Today I Will or Princess Pig is preferred!

Jerry Spinelli is a Newberry Medal award winner who has written a number of children's classics, including Stargirl, Maniac Magee and Crash.  His wife Eileen is also a children's author and poet, who has published over 50 picture books for children.  They live in Norristown, PA.

Reassuring advice for every day of the year.

From an esteemed husband-and-wife team comes a book of daily advice and insight. In dated entries meant to be read one per day, the Spinellis open with a brief quote from children’s literature, write a paragraph of lively advice inspired by that quote, and end with a “Today I will . . .” promise. The entries range from the broad (self-esteem, the environment, gratitude, and openmindedness) to the simple and specific (Today I will call a grandparent . . . smile at a new kid . . . take a walk . . . and send a snail-mail letter.).

With wide appeal to fans of both children’s literature and advice books, this cozy page-a-day volume (with black-and-white spot art) offers inspiring quotes, gentle guidance, and 366 “Today I will . . .” promises to thoughtful readers everywhere.

What’s in a name? Pig finds out on a windy day after a princess’ sash flies off during the Picawash County Farm Show Parade. When the pig awakens bedecked by the errant sash, she wonders if she is indeed a princess. Several animals try convincing her otherwise: how can she be a princess without a crown, without a gold necklace, and smelling like a pig? Pig dons a teacup crown, fashions a flower necklace, rolls in honeysuckle to smell better, and convinces most of the other animals that she is indeed a princess. The text strikes a chord akin to Charlotte’s Web when gullible visitors and the media arrive at the farm to view the fabulous princess pig. Alas, Pig finds the royal life doesn’t suit her after all, and she is eager to return to being just a pig. In watercolors and colored pencils, Bowers uses the animals’ facial expressions to create delightful personalities. A humorous read-aloud for storytime. -- Booklist.
