Book Signing with Mark Hubman
| Mark Hubman will be at the bookshop on Saturday, August 14th at 11:00 am to sign copies of Dearest Isabella, a novel of great passion that finds Cassandra Losch, currently in an unhappy marriage, finding solace and inspiration in a series of Civil War-era love letters. Hubman is a Civil War buff, who has spent countless hours on the battlefields at Gettsyburg National Military Park. Although Dearest Issabella is mostly set in the present day, his descriptions that are found in the letters bring an illuminating historical quality to the book. Book Description: Can century-old letters, forgotten and left to rot, transform a woman's life more than a century after they were written? Cassandra Losch is about to find out. Cassandra aspires to great things, but would settle for the attention of her husband, Jake, a soldier, whose physical and emotional distance makes her feel alone and incomplete. Cassandra discovers love letters from Civil War soldier Samuel Ripley, to his wife, Issabella. Although the letters' ink is faded, the words of love and longing are ageless. As she reads - and relives each heart-wrenching emotion put to paper - Cassandra sees what she has been missing. Cassandra writes to Jake and tells him of her desire for the intimacy Samuel shows for Issabella. While she awaits a response from Jake, a new romance blossoms. Samuel's letters, and a visit from an old friend, help Cassandra decide her romantic destiny. But what will it be?
