Come celebrate National Poetry month by hearing Lynn Levin and this year's Bucks County Poet Laureate Bernadette McBride read from their collections.
Lynn Levin, a former Bucks County Poet Laureate who now teaches creative writing at the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University, just released her third collection of poetry, Fair Creatures of an Hour, where "she collects the pop-cultural detritus swirling around her as if with a butterfly net, scooping up headlines, horoscopes, and twinkly objects from her domestic life to carry them back home where she, and we, can study them more closely." Her first two collection of poems were Imaginarium and Few Questions About Paradise.
Bernadette McBride, Bucks County's current Poet Laureate, who teaches writing and literature at Temple University, was described as “a deeply centered poet… The characters are as recognizable as a recurrent dream…yet they still manage to tell us what we do not know, or perhaps what we do not know that we know.” They added that her work “showed a deft sense of timing, including how to resolve a poem on a wonderful note of mixed delicacy and strength. The detail is wisely chosen, the music palpable, and the emotions are important ones to ponder.” She is working on her first bound collection of poetry.
